I cut my teeth in the mythical land that lays between the Los Angeles River and Venice Beach way out west in the great golden state. My heroes were the surf Nazis, skate rats, graffiti kids and other urban misfits that inhabited Los Angeles in sun bleached '80's. I continue to be inspired by the imaginary city of Los Angeles that never existed except on film and books, as well as the very real place I continue to explore on a daily basis. I devoured Mad Magazine, Calvin & Hobbes and Marvel comics as a youngster. As I got older, I discovered pulp fiction with genres like crime and western and romance. I eventually moved into the monolithic stories of the American writers told as anti-hero. I still love it all, and it continues to color the work that I do today.
If you have a writing problem that you can't untangle, I'd love to help. I've penned fiction, non-fiction, journalism, a novel and a script. I'm a fan of the printed word and I'm most at ease when I'm telling a story. I am currently working on my second script and have settled on an outline for a children's book that I will personally illustrate. My ability to adapt to unfamiliar genres and styles is a strength that I champion. Nothing would make me happier than being able to pen a book of inconvenient subjects and conflicted style in a terribly unsuitable genre. I'm thinking of a personal travel memoir told in the voice of urban female adolescent and written as inspiration.
